School of Shipping and Naval Architecture now has one municipal key discipline-ship and ocean engineering, one municipal specialty discipline group-naval architecture, one first-level master degree authorization spot of ship and ocean engineering, one specialized master's degree authorization spot of ship and ocean engineering.
2. Postgraduate Programs
● Ship and Ocean Engineering (academic master type)
1) Introduction to Discipline
The first-level discipline-Ship and Ocean Engineering includes three second-level sub-disciplines-Design and Construction of Naval Architecture and Ocean Structure, Maine Engineering and Underwater Acoustics Engineering. There has formed a highly cooperative research team with rational composition and high academic level. Through years’ development, there has formed three research fields, namely, Hydrodynamic Performance of Ships and Offshore Structures, Structural Mechanical Properties of Ships &Offshore Structures, Marine Engineering.
2) Training Goals
The students ought to master solid theories and systematic professional knowledge about ship and ocean engineering discipline, have the ability to analyze and solve questions independently and master basic skills as experimental test and data analysis, computer application programming. After graduation, the students are able to deal with teaching, scientific research, design, production and management about ship and ocean engineering or related fields

● Ship and Ocean Engineering (specialized master type)
1) Introduction to Discipline
Ship and ocean engineering is the specific technical field to provide all kinds of equipment for water transportation, marine resource development and the navy or to engage in the design and construction of ocean engineering.
This professional field mainly cultivates practical compound talents and engineering management talents engaging in research, design and manufacturing of ship, offshore structure and ship equipment.

It is to cultivate the high-level practical and compound engineering & technical and management talents in the field of ship and ocean engineering

1. The schooling duration is 3 years, including three sections, namely, course learning, practical training and paper writing.

① Major Orientation
Ship and Ocean Engineering is a comprehensive engineering technology pertaining to the category of ocean engineering and aimed to the fields of water transportation, ocean exploitation and navy construction, etc. This Major follows closely the national strategy of “marine power”, takes social needs as its guidance, abides by the schooling concept of “good foundation, wide range, strong practice, seeking for innovation”, sticks to the major orientation of “based on Chongqing, facing the ocean”, embodies the professional spirits of “the sea breeds and nourishes life and the ship can sail to the non-restricted world” and has cultivated a great number of high-quality engineering and technical talents in the field of ship and ocean engineering.
② Major Objectives
The goal of the major is to train the students to develop a sound personality, good professional ethics and social responsibilities. They ought to be equipped with specific scientific research quality, strong organization and management ability, good expression and writing capability with lifelong learning awareness and international vision. They ought to acquire solid knowledge of mathematics, mechanics, etc. and have a good command of major theories and advanced technology in ship structure, ship performance, technology etc. They are trained to be high-quality engineering and technical personnel with strong practical ability, keen innovation consciousness and team spirit so as to qualify themselves for the work on ship design, construction, repair, inspection, management, etc.

2) Undergraduate Program for Navigation Technology (national excellent engineer training plan)
① Major Orientation
This major is based on the international and national shipping as well as related industries, fulfills international maritime conventions, conforms to the national maritime laws and focuses on improving students’ comprehensive qualities, with the aim to cultivate international applied senior nautical talents.
② Major Objectives
Strictly on the basis of the requirements of international conventions and national maritime laws and regulations, this major aims to cultivate international applied senior nautical talents that have good capabilities of ocean-going navigation, ship management, as well as comprehensive practical English competence, who are familiar with ocean-going transportation operation and management.

④ Major Features
This major focuses on navigational technology, meanwhile, giving considerations for both directions-ship management and navigation support. Besides, it adopts the way of “three-year theoretical learning and one-year intensive training” as well as the industry-university joint educational model with “bi-supervisors” to cultivate applied senior nautical talents with solid theoretical foundation and excellent practical engineering abilities. 3) Undergraduate Program for Navigation Technology
① Major Orientation
This major is based on the international and national shipping as well as related industries, fulfills international maritime conventions, conforms to the national maritime laws, takes transportation engineering as the main discipline, focuses on improving students’ comprehensive qualities, features with “based on application, learning for practice, emphasizing on both certificates, containing both sea and river”, with the aim to cultivate talents with high navigational technology.
② Major Objectives
This major conforms to the requirements of international conventions and national maritime laws and regulations to cultivate international applied senior nautical talents that have good social responsibilities, professional ethics, team spirits, acquire modern navigational theories and operational skills and are able to adapt to such jobs as ship navigation and management.

4) Undergraduate Program for Marine Engineering (national excellent engineer training plan)
① Major Orientation
This major takes international conventions and national laws and regulations as its standards, features in “focusing on application, emphasizing both certificates, combining ocean and river”, highlights the quality cultivation for marine engineers. For these years, it has been making all efforts to be the top in west China and renowned nationally.
② Major Objectives
This major is to cultivate international senior engineering and technical talents required by STCW convention and national laws and regulations that have solid theoretical knowledge, excellent practical skills, English competence, as well as cross-cultural communication ability and team spirits, who are qualified for the management, construction, inspection of the ship power equipment and machinery management as well as maritime management.

② Major Objectives
This major is to cultivate senior engineering and technical talents required by the international shipping and shipbuilding industry that have solid engineering technology and common skills, can adapt to the jobs as modern ship equipment manufacturing, marine management, port facility & transportation machinery operation and management.

6) Undergraduate Program for Ship Electric and Electronic Engineering

② Major Objectives
This major is to cultivate senior engineering and technical talents that are all-round developed in moral, intelligence, sports, aesthetics and labor education, satisfies the standard of “Quality management system of crew education and training, PRC”, who have excellent electric and electrical knowledge, engineering quality, and are qualified for such jobs as ETO or the product research and development, engineering design, technical support in related electronic and electrical engineering field.
